All Deviations

Rain fell in a steady drizzle, slowly soaking the girl who sat alone at the bus

stop. She glanced up at the sky, dark and gloomy with rain clouds. Sighing, she

turned her gaze back back to the rain spattered pavement. How had she ended

up here? What wrong turn in her life had led to this lonely bus stop? She wanted

to go back and apologize to the people she had doubtless hurt, to be surrounded

by friends and family again. But she didn't know the way home and the bus never

came. Hot tears welled up in her eyes and began to slide down her cheeks,

mingling with the cold rain.

"I just want to go home," she whispered.

Suddenly the rain stopped it's neverending drip onto her head. Surprised, she

looked up to see that goofy looking floral print umbrella and the gentle smile that

she loved so much. The young man laughed when he saw her face. The laugh was

warm and comforting, and the girl couldn't help but smile. The young man

extended a hand down to her.

"Come on, princess. Let's go home."

"No, you'll never be alone
When darkness comes
I'll light the night with stars
Hear the whispers in the dark"

-Skillet, Whispers in the Dark

"The night is so long when everything's wrong
If you give me your hand
I will help you hold on
Tonight, tonight"
-Skillet, The Last Night

I guess this is more of a drabble than a short story, and is inspired by the two Skillet songs above.

And to my friends, no, I'm not dead. Just busy.
